Gen Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff, inaugurates "AGNISHODH" Research Cell at IIT Madras

Indian Army has joined hands with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras to establish "Agnishodh" , the Indian Army Research Cell (IARC) on the IIT Madras campus. The research facility was formally inaugurated by General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) on 4th August 2025.

In order to effectively utilize the expertise in the field of translational research and the related infrastructure in IITM, the Indian Army and IIT Madras established the "Agnishodh" Center of Excellence. Accordingly, an MoU has been signed with the Indian Army. This Research Centre would actively engage and partner with various industries including MSMEs and Startups during the process of applied research, prototyping and for subsequent realisation of the products.
